College of civil engineering and architecture is an Engineering College of Henan University. In May 1931, Mr. Xu Xinwu, an expert in civil engineering and water conservancy and President of Henan University, initiated the establishment of the Department of civil engineering, and appointed Qu Wenlin, the first director of the Department. After the adjustment of national colleges and departments, the discipline was incorporated into other colleges and universities. In 1946, Yan Kai, a famous water conservancy expert, became the director of the Department of civil engineering of national Henan University, and carried out the restoration and reconstruction. However, due to the war and other reasons, it was soon stopped. In 1988, according to the needs of national economic construction, the school established the Department of Arts and crafts and architectural engineering. In January 1994, the major of Arts and crafts was separated from the Department of architectural engineering. In April 2002, the College of civil engineering and architecture was established. Now it has four teaching units: Department of architectural engineering, Department of road and bridge engineering, Department of architecture and Department of urban and rural planning. It has research institutions such as geotechnical and Rail Transit Engineering Research Institute, steel and Spatial Structure Research Institute, circulation and functional materials research laboratory, ancient architecture garden forest Design Research Institute and Architectural Design Research Institute. In 2018, it was approved as Henan prefabricated construction engineering technology research center, and in 2019, it was approved as Henan Rail Transit Intelligent Construction Engineering Research Center. Kaifeng Key Laboratory for the restoration and safety evaluation of immovable cultural relics, Kaifeng special soil modification and restoration engineering technology research center, Kaifeng engineering restoration and material recycling engineering technology research center, etc.

 

At present, the college has 96 staff and 80 professional teachers, including 1 part-time academician, 1 "outstanding talent", 2 Yellow River scholars, 2 special professors, 2 doctoral supervisors, 17 professors, 27 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, 1 senior experimenter, 1 young architect award of China Architecture Association, 1 famous teacher of Henan Province, and 1 excellent teacher of Henan Province, There are 4 backbone teachers in Henan Province, 4 academic and technical leaders of Henan Provincial Department of education, more than 40 people with doctoral degree, 5 national registered architects, 12 national registered structural engineers, 1 national registered public equipment engineer (water supply and drainage), 5 national registered civil engineers (geotechnical), 1 National registered urban planner and 1 national registered environmental protection engineer. It has formed a teaching team with high academic level, strong professional ability and innovative consciousness, which is mainly composed of young and middle-aged teachers with reasonable structure of professional title, education background, age and academic background.

 

 

 

 

 

The college has three undergraduate majors of civil engineering, architecture and urban-rural planning, and three first-class disciplines of civil engineering, materials science and Engineering (Materials Science) and design (Architectural Design and theory, architectural history and theory), Master of Engineering (in the field of construction and Civil Engineering) and master of Education (vocational and Technical Education - Civil Engineering and water conservancy) are authorized. The first level disciplines of civil engineering and architecture are the key disciplines in Henan Province. Architecture successfully passed the national professional certification, and civil engineering was selected into the excellent engineer program of Henan Province (the pilot specialty of comprehensive reform of Engineering Education in Henan Province). It has formed many academic groups, such as "civil engineering structure and materials", "underground structure and special rock and soil", "traffic engineering", "historical buildings and earth Sites Protection" and "architectural history and theory".
