The predecessor of the school of civil engineering and architecture of Henan University is the Department of civil engineering, which was established in 1931. In 1987, the Department of Arts and crafts and architectural engineering was established. In 1994, the Department of architectural engineering was established separately. In 2002, the school of civil engineering and architecture was established. The college is located in Jinming campus of Henan University, with a total construction area of 20000 square meters of teaching and experimental buildings. The college consists of Civil Engineering Department, architecture department, road and Bridge Engineering Department and urban and rural planning department. At present, there are eight research institutes, including ancient architecture and Landscape Design Institute, Architectural Design Institute, material and structure Institute, steel and space structure Institute, Ancient Architecture Protection Institute, pension Architecture Institute, geotechnical engineering institute and Traffic Engineering Institute. The laboratory setting includes civil engineering foundation laboratory, geotechnical engineering laboratory, building and structure CAD laboratory, structural engineering laboratory, building structure reliability detection and evaluation laboratory, civil engineering innovation practice base, etc. the civil engineering virtual simulation experiment teaching center is Henan virtual simulation experiment teaching center, and the civil engineering foundation experiment teaching center is Henan experimental teaching center Learning demonstration center. The total value of laboratory equipment has exceeded 27 million yuan. Since 2001, the college has started to recruit and train postgraduates. There are three first-class master's degree authorization points in civil engineering, materials science and engineering, and design, two second-class master's degree authorization points in Engineering (in the field of architecture and Civil Engineering), and master of Education (vocational and Technical Education - civil engineering and water conservancy). The first-class discipline in civil engineering, and the second-class discipline in architectural history and theory are in Henan Province Key subjects.

At present, the college has 1 doctoral supervisor and 39 master's supervisors, including 1 part-time academician, 2 Yellow River scholars, 1 special Professor, 17 professors, 25 associate professors, 4 backbone teachers in Henan Province, and 4 academic and technical leaders in Henan Education Department.

The college cooperates with the University of Miami, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Tianjin University, South China University of technology, Xi'an University of architecture and technology, Beijing General Research Institute of building materials, Henan Academy of Architectural Sciences, Henan Academy of cultural relics protection, Henan Academy of architectural design, Henan Academy of urban and rural planning and design, etc We have established a long-term cooperative relationship in personnel training, and also hired a number of off campus experts as part-time professors to carry out postgraduate training. At present, it has formed academic groups of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, civil engineering materials, historical building protection and architectural and urban design.
