We offer three undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Urban and Rural Planning in our school, three academic master programs in Civil Engineering, Design Science, Materials Science and Engineering, and a master engineering program in Architecture and Civil Engineering. The laboratories are the main platforms for the training of personnel in civil engineering. We have scaled up the construction of our laboratory and upgrade our facilities through the investment of various channels such as school investment, provincial funding for the joint construction of laboratory, and self-financing.
Our school currently has a Architectural Technology Laboratory, a Circulation and Functional Building Materials Laboratory, a Civil Engineering Foundation Laboratory, an Architectural and Structural CAD laboratory, a Structural Engineering Laboratory, and a Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory. The Civil Engineering Basic Experimental Teaching Center based on the basic experiments of the above laboratories was approved as the Henan Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in 2012. The Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Civil Engineering based on virtual reality (VR) technology experiments was among the first batch of approved virtual simulation experimental teaching centers in Henan Province in 2013. With a total area of around 10,000 square meters, the labs scattered around Building A, Building B, and Building D of the 16th Group of the Jinming Campus. The various types of advanced equipment we possess currently worth 22.82 million yuan.
In terms of school administration, the laboratories are operated under the joint management by full-time technical staff and professional teachers under the leadership of the school. In order to maximize the sharing and optimization of resources, the school adopts unified planning and management of equipment resources, human resources, and financial resources. This experimental team is made up of researchers with matching age and professional titles, and 90% of the staff have doctoral or master's degrees.
Each year, our laboratories undertake a large number of experimental teaching and scientific research tasks, and engineering projects. They play an irreplaceable role in the college's personnel training, discipline construction, and degree program construction. We keep pace with the times and are moving toward the goal of building advanced laboratories for civil engineering under the concept of “scientific management, teaching oritentation, scientific research orientation, social orientation, and first-class construction ”.
